Cultural activities are an integral part of international education at UNI. The OIE provides a variety of fun and entertaining opportunities for our students to experience everyday life in the Midwest.
Here are some of activities we provide

The UNI Office of International Engagement is kicking off the fall season with a fun-filled lineup of events just for YOU! Whether you’re looking to explore Iowa’s beauty, connect with new friends, or enjoy some cozy fall vibes and great food, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this semester.
Summer 2026
Grocery Trips | June 7th and July 5th | 3-5pm | Sign Up Here
OIE will be offering grocery trips for interested students on the dates above. These trips are a great opportunity to stock up on groceries and essentials while connecting with other students. Transportation provided by the Office of International Engagement.
Downtown Exploration + Farmers Market | June 13th | 9am - 1pm | Sign Up Here
Join us for a morning exploring downtown Cedar Falls and visiting the local Farmers Market! Enjoy fresh produce, local vendors, handmade goods, and a fun community atmosphere. Transportation provided by the Office of International Engagement.
Sturgis Falls Carnival | June 27th | 7pm - 11pm | Sign Up Here
Experience one of Cedar Falls’ favorite summer traditions at the Sturgis Falls Carnival! Enjoy rides, games, food, music, and community festivities with friends. Transportation provided by the Office of International Engagement.
Fireworks Over the Dome | July 2nd | UNI Dome
Celebrate summer and America 250 at Fireworks Over the Dome at the UNI-Dome! Parking lots and green spaces will open beginning at 7:00 p.m., and the fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:40 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of community celebration and fireworks!
