Additional Information
As the host of a foreign national, it is important to ensure prior to their visit that the visitor will not have access to export-controlled data or materials.
Export-controlled data/materials are regulated by federal laws and generally, export-controlled items may not be physically transferred outside of the U.S. or disclosed to a foreign person or foreign national without a license.
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs maintains information on its web pages regarding export controls associated with the sharing of technology, information, products, etc. with entities abroad.
Please read about Export Controls at : rsp.uni.edu/export-controls
If you have questions about export control laws or a visitor’s access to certain technologies or information, please contact Kyle Fogt, UNI Export Controls Coordinator, at kyle.fogt@uni.edu or 273-7272.
Federal law restricts or prohibits U.S. institutions from engaging in certain transactions with designated individuals or entities appearing on restricted party lists maintained by the U.S. government. A restricted party screening involves review of these lists to ensure that the person or entity you intend to host on campus does not appear on one of these lists. It is the host’s responsibility to check the name and entity (e.g., visitor’s institution) of any visitor before the visit. Please use https://www.export.gov/csl-search to check the restricted party lists. In the event your visitor or his/her institution appears on one of these lists, please contact Kyle Fogt, UNI Export Controls Coordinator, at klye.fogt@uni.edu or 273-7272.
