The Office of International Engagement offers various professional growth and job opportunities for students on campus. 

The Office of International Engagement typically hosts 10-15 student staff members in various capacities. This can be through standard student employment, internships, graduate assistantships, or other professional growth related opportunities. With students graduating, moving to different positions, and general turnover, we want to keep YOU up to date on available positions in our office. 

The Office of International Engagement (OIE) fosters a supportive and engaging environment that provides students with hands on work throughout a variety of different opportunities. From helping to organize Orientation sessions, to general front desk responsibilities, and program planning; we strive to provide students with a wide variety of professional growth opportunities during their time at OIE.

International Engagement Student Driver 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Helping in the transportation of students during academic session (Fall, Spring, Summer) to designated activities off campus and in the community.
  • Provide transportation to new and incoming students during the Fall and Spring Orientation Sessions from nearby airports; Waterloo Regional Airport and Cedar Rapids Airport.
  • Aid in moving in new students during Fall and Spring Orientation Sessions to their housing on or off campus as needed.
  • Chaperone small groups of students for field trips and other outings as needed.
  • Assist in the transportation of immersion or short term programs as needed throughout the academic year.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Valid US or Iowa Drivers License
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work quickly through changes
  • Welcoming attitude and desire to assist others
  • Dependable and consistent
  • Ability to work weekends and outside of typical working hours

International Engagement Assistant Programming Coordinator Graduate Assistant

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Aiding the Student Service Coordinator in overseeing the Global Panther Success Program Team, helping in coordinating members as needed and leading programming. 
  • Planning and taking initiative to create cultural events and programming for the larger Cedar Valley such as Holi, Eid, Lunar New Year, etc. 
  • Taking initiative to assist with events outside of the typical work hours (8-4pm) and working as a representative of the OIE Office as needed. 
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of International Education Week and other large scale events managed by the International Engagement Office.
  • Possible extension to assist with Orientation programming during the Spring and Fall Orientation seasons.
  • Offering support and program management for events and programming throughout the academic year in relation to smaller scale social events. 
  • Aid in preparing supplies and support materials for programs (ex: posters, schedules, paper goods, information, etc) 
  • Help students and staff members with day to day student support initiatives. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail/detail oriented mindset. 
  • Experience in team settings, values working well with others
  • Ability to create content on platforms such as Canva, Word, CapCut, etc) 
  • Reliable in independent program oversight and organization.  
  • Willing to take initiative and interact with the larger UNI community and international student body. 
  • Will be attending UNI for at least 1 academic year, if not longer and looking for an applicant willing to commit to 1 year in the position. 
  • Able to work over the Summer (May - August) or breaks (Winter, Thanksgiving, Spring Break) in a student employee capacity. 
  • In possession of a U.S. Driver’s license and experience in driving.

(FILLED) Content and Social Media Coordinator Graduate Assistant

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce various types of digital content for the OIE Office, including but not limited to: photos, video, interviews, articles, etc. 
  • Assistance in managing social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) representing the International Engagement Office.
  • Initiative and creativity in coordinating social media projects in a timely manner with clear communication of project timeline, needs, expectations, etc.
  • Ability to work some after hours (outside of 8-4pm) events in order to capture content for social media pages.
  • Takes part and informs staff of additional upkeep needed to media equipment, or introduces new ideas to staff.
  • Aid in the preparation of events and initiatives of the OIE Office through social media and community communications.
  • Help students and staff members with day to day student support initiatives. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Insight into content creation and uses of social media creation apps (Canva, CapCut, etc)
  • Previous experience with photography, videography, or other media content.
  • Ability to independently work on individual tasks with clear communication to supervising staff to update.
  • Creation of consistent timelines and program planning to be submitted.
